Caption: The Soviet Freighter ALDAN shown at San Francisco, California, about 1943. Until 1934 ALDAN was the BRUNSWIJK under German Flag. Note the paravane boom on the bow and substantial armament. ALDAN dropped from Lloyd's register in 1955 but may have sailed locally as late as 1966 in the U.S.S.R.
