Title: Convoy UGS-13
Caption: July-August 1943. Ship masters and involved Naval officers arrive for the pre-sailing convoy conference, held by the Naval Operating Base Norfolk port director's routing office, 26 July 1943. Masters are assigned seats with numbers corresponding to their ships' convoy positions. Naval armed guard officers are seated in the rear of the room. Master in seat #57 has just begun to read his convoy instructions, as his ship's armed guard officer looks over his shoulder.
