19-N-104898 Camouflage Measure 12

Photo #: 19-N-104898 Camouflage Measure 12
Title: Camouflage Measure 12
Description: Drawing prepared by the Bureau of Ships for a camouflage scheme , intended for application to an escort ship of the John C. Butler (DE-339) class. This plan, approved by Captain Torvald A. Solberg, USN, is dated 12 September 1944. It shows the ship's starboard side, horizontal surfaces and superstructure ends. Note that this camouflage scheme calls for painting the ship's starboard side in Camouflage Measure 22, probably for comparison purposes during testing at sea. Also note that Measure 12, as shown here, differs from the Measure 12 that was widely used during the first year of World War II.
